My Story

Samreen is a sweet and gentle girl who was born in Bangalore. Her mother hails from Kolkata while her father is from Bangalore. Her mother used to be a housewife, but due to her husband's financial incapability, she ended up in the Red-Light District when Samreen was only 4-years old.

After some time, Samreen's mother realized that it was not safe for her daughter to live with her in the Red-Light district.  Knowing that she could not take care of her daughter while actively involved in the flesh trade, she requested Sahaara's field staff to place her in a hostel where she could receive holistic care and protection. Currently she speaks only basic English, but she has big dreams for her future, she aspires to become a teacher one day.
