My story is one of resilience and hope in the face of difficult circumstances. Growing up in the red-light area of Ghatkopar, I faced many challenges, including a lack of access to education. But my mother, Nafisa, who still worked in the trade, recognized the importance of education and approached the Sahaara staff at the education centre to admit me into the hostel.
I was able to join the hostel on 10th December 2021 and start my education. It was challenging to admit me in a formal school as I had never been to school before. My academic foundation had to be worked upon. With the support of the teacher and staff at the hostel, I was home schooled and was prepared for school admission in the following academic year. Based on my ability, I was directly admitted in the 2nd grade in a local English medium school. I am a brilliant student and a social girl who loves to help others. I enjoy going to school and have dreams of becoming a police officer.
My story shows that with the right support and encouragement, children from even the most challenging backgrounds can achieve great things. My resilience and determination are an inspiration to all who face obstacles in their lives.
