Ongchen grew up in a remote village, where poverty cast a shadow over his family’s daily life. His father struggled to earn enough for even a single meal, and the family’s fragile foundation began to crumble under the weight of hardship. The hopelessness grew unbearable, leading Ongchen’s mother to leave—abandoning him and his siblings to fend for themselves. Her absence left a lasting emptiness and hurt in Ongchen’s life.

At home, the struggles only deepened. Overwhelmed by his circumstances, Ongchen’s father turned to alcohol, leaving the family in chaos. With no resources to spare, education was an impossible dream, and Ongchen’s future felt like a foregone conclusion—one of struggle and stagnation.

But thanks to your help, something remarkable happened. Ongchen was brought to a hostel funded by the kindness of donors like you. For the first time, he had access to the essentials he lacked—food, clothing, shelter, and perhaps most importantly, an education. The hostel became a sanctuary for Ongchen, a place where he began to experience stability and hope.

This hope hasn’t just reshaped Ongchen’s life, but his families as well. Ongchen's father has found the strength to make a change. He stopped drinking, a courageous first step toward rebuilding their fractured bond. For the first time, there is a glimmer of healing and reconciliation.

Reflecting on his newfound life, he shares, “Thank you so much for providing us with everything we need in life. It is such a blessing from God to have your support.”

Ongchen now dreams of becoming a teacher, someone who can guide and inspire others in the same way his teachers have guided him. His eyes light up as he talks about helping children from backgrounds like his realize the power of learning.
