CHHAYA’S SONG OF FREEDOM
Chhaya sings her own song of praise to the melody of the music playing from the street below her room at the safe house.
Music was her escape from the grim reality of her life in the red-light district of India. Her mother, a victim of human trafficking, was determined to protect Chhaya from the evil she was enduring.
Taking a brave step, she brought Chhaya to our safe house. Here, Chhaya found a haven where she feels safe and cared for. She receives counseling, which helps her deal with her past experiences. She is also enrolled in school, where she is cultivating her love for music.
Now 13 years old, Chhaya is happy, grateful, and safe with a full future of promise ahead of her. Thanks to your ongoing support, Chhaya will live at the safe house until graduation, and get the opportunity to go to college.
Often, you can hear Chhaya’s sweet voice floating through the halls of the safe house. They’re her own songs of worship expressing the gratitude of her new life.
