Grants to Help Fund Rehabilitation Center, Increase Impact in India

Eugene, OR — Wednesday, January 28, 2009.

India Partners, a non-profit relief and development organization based in Eugene, Oregon, has recently received grants from four organizations: The Grace and Mercy Foundation in New York, New York; The Riverside Foundation in Lampeter, Pennsylvania; The Central Lutheran Foundation in Eugene, Oregon; and The Manley Foundation, also of Eugene.

The Grace and Mercy Foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant, $10,000 of which will be used to help operate a physical rehabilitation center in Chennai, India. A $7,000 grant from the Riverside Foundation will go towards the funding of this same project. A $2,500 grant from The Central Lutheran Foundation, a $500 grant from The Manley Foundation and the remaining $5,000 of The Grace and Mercy Foundation's donation will be used to fund India Partners' various projects for the impoverished in India.

Because of these grants, the lives of many in India will be impacted in a positive manner. Students at the rehabilitation center will learn skills to find employment; and people of all ages will benefit from the various programs conducted by India Partners—with medical camps, literacy projects, blanket distribution and meals for hungry children being among the many offerings.

India Partners is working with long-term indigenous partners on the ground to provide opportunities for people to become self-sufficient. India Partners, which has been involved with relief work in India since 1984, is working with its well-established partners to help those in need.
